Lego City Undercover is an open world adventure game. Starring a brand new character and world, players explore across 20 districts using a variety of vehicles and costumes.
With the now trademark Lego humour, Lego City Undercover plays out as a kind of cop movie spoof. Chase McCain is the standard fish out of water cop who must take on a range of disguise in order to bring down a criminal ring from the inside. Each of these disguise offers a new skill or ability, earning access to new areas or unlockables. The open world and various vehicles give more than a hint of Grand Theft Auto but with a distinctively more child friendly tone. Lego City Undercover could be considered as one the best Lego video games available but for a disappointing range of performance issues. Even the very best hardware struggles with crashes and slowdown alongside a constant stream of long loading screens. Despite theses issues, the wit and fun of the game shine through.
Lego City Undercover is a game which is hampered only by technical complaints. The humour is clever, exploring is rewarding and action is fast, but all this can't stop a feeling of frustration from a non-stable build.
